Mattapoisett church to celebrate Advent with several events

MATTAPOISETT — The Mattapoisett Congregational Church is holding several community events for Advent season
At 10 a.m. on the first Sunday in Advent on Dec. 1, the candle of hope will be lit.
The holiday fair will be held Saturday, Dec. 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Reynard Hall with baked goods, handmade craft items, handcrafted jewelry and other Christmas decor.
The ‘White Gifts Pageant”, which celebrates the birth of Jesus, will be held during worship Sunday, Dec. 8 at 10 a.m. The candle of peace will be lit. During the service, donations will be accepted of gift cards to Walmart, Target, and local grocery stores like Stop and Shop, Shaws and Market Basket only.
On Sunday, Dec. 15, the candle of joy will be lit as Pastor Michael Frady “speaks about the meaning of Jesus coming,” an announcement said.
On Sunday, Dec. 22, a “beautiful service” of lessons and carols will be held at 10 a.m. The candle of love will be lit with performers from the Seaglass Theater Company.
Two services are planned for Christmas Eve on Tuesday, Dec. 24. The Christmas Eve family service will be held at 5 p.m. The Advent wreath candles will be lit in addition to the Christ candle with soloist Alissa Cassola. The “beautiful” candlelight service will be held at 10 p.m. with soloist Andy Crain.
