Mattapoisett Congregational Church announces scholarship winners

Mattapoisett Congregational Church recognized high school seniors Abigail Field, Alexus Garcia, Keegan Lant and Charlotte Van Voorhis during the worship service on Scholarship Sunday, May 22.

Field, an Old Rochester Regional High School student, received a scholarship from the church’s Women’s Community Guild. She will attend the UMass Dartmouth to major in history.

Garcia and Lant, also ORR seniors, were recipients of the Memorials Scholarship. Garcia will study early childhood education with an emphasis on special education at Southern New Hampshire University. Lant will attend Plymouth State University as a psychology major.

Van Voorhis, a senior at Falmouth Academy, was awarded the Dagmar Coquillette Memorial Scholarship. She will attend Yale University with a major in English literature and composition.

Mattapoisett Congregational Church scholarships are awarded on the basis of scholastic achievement, community service and financial need. Recipients must be residents of Mattapoisett, Marion or Rochester or church members. Students graduating from ORR, Old Colony, Bishop Stang, Tabor Academy or another area secondary school are eligible to apply.
