Medication Management

Wednesday, Sept. 4
“Brown bag” Medication Review

A registered pharmacist will look at seniors’ medicines to determine if there are any potential problems. Seniors should gather all current medications and over-the-counter products, including herbal and natural products to show the pharmacist. This program is free, but there are limited slots. Appointments are scheduled every 20 minutes from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Register at the Council on Aging

Movie & pizza

The council will screen “Quartet” directed Dustin Hoffman and starring Maggie Smith, Tom Courtenay, and Billy Connolly. The cost is $2 for pizza. RSVP by Aug. 26.

Thursday, Aug. 29 at 12:15 lunch/ 1 p.m. entertainment
Jimmy Buffet’s Parrot Head Party at Knights of Columbus Hall, Rte 6

Put on your summer outfits in honor of a Jimmy Buffet-themed party. Entertainer Vic Solo will also perform! The cost is $8 for an old-fashioned cookout and entertainment. RSVP by Aug. 26.

Bill Reidy as Sinatra at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Rte 6

Singer Bill Reidy will sing Frank Sinatra classics. The cost is $8 for spaghetti and meatballs (a Sinatra favorite) and entertainment. RSVP by Sept. 9.

Trips

Thursday, Aug. 15. The van leaves the Park & Ride at 8 a.m.

The Council will go to the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem and see the Faberge Revealed exhibit. The cost is $27 (includes $10 for the van and $17 for admission to museum and Faberge exhibit.) RSVP by Aug. 9.

Thursday, Aug. 22. The van leaves the Park & Ride at 11:10 a.m.

The Council will lunch at Bayside Restaurant in Westport. The van is $5. RSVP by Aug. 19.

Thursday, Sept. 5th. The van leaves the Park & Ride at 10:30 a.m.

This trip will lunch at Brewster Inn & Chowder House followed by shopping at Lemon Tree Village Mall in Brewster. The van costs $8 van. RSVP by Sept. 2.

Thursday, Sept. 19. The van leaves the Park & Ride at 11:05 a.m.

The Council will visit Silver Lounge in Falmouth. The cost is $6 for the van.  RSVP by Sept. 16.

Thursday, Sept. 26th. The van leaves the Park & Ride at 8:30 a.m.

Council members will visit Higgins Armory Museum in Worcester, on the list of National Places of Historic Significance, It is the only dedicated museum to armor in the western hemisphere. The trip costs $10 for the van and $7 for admission.  RSVP by Sept. 23.

Social

Legal

Tuesday, Aug. 13 and Tuesday, Sept. 10.

Suprenant & Beneski will offer free legal consultations. Fifteen-minute appointments will be made between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. at the Council on Aging.

For men

Focus group

A men’s focus group for ages 50 and up will be held at the Mattapoisett Public Library, 7 Barstow St. The event is an opportunity for men to share their thoughts. There will also be free coffee and doughnuts.
