Mattapoisett Fire Department wins grant

The Mattapoisett Fire Department has been awarded a $1,939 grant to be used for the purchase of forestry and brush firefighting equipment from the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation.
On Friday, March 29, Mattapoisett Fire Chief Andrew Murray and Lieutenant Patrick Saltmarsh accepted the grant at a check presentation ceremony held in Plympton.
The United States Department of Agriculture’s Forest Service provides program funding, which is administered by the Bureau of Forest Fire Control and Forestry.
Mattapoisett fire personnel applied for the grant in May of 2012.
