Mattapoisett Fire offers free smoke detector batteries

Mattapoisett Fire Department and Interstate Battery have partnered up to give residents of Mattapoisett batteries for their smoke and carbon monoxide detectors free of charge.

Sept. 13 and 14 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., firefighters will come to residents' homes, check their detectors, replace the batteries and make sure families have a fire escape plan along with a safe meeting place.
