Mattapoisett firefighters rescue person from marsh
MATTAPOISETT — On Saturday, Aug. 13, the Mattapoisett Fire Department rescued a person who was stuck in marshland in an area near the Antassawamock community.
According to a post on the department’s Facebook page, a person was found around 100 yards away from solid ground in the marsh.
Firefighters, with the assistance of the Mattapoisett Police Department and the Mattapoisett Harbormaster successfully rescued the person from the marsh.
According to the post, the firefighter crew used a ladder to traverse the muddy terrain and pulled the stuck person from the mud.
On Thursday, Aug. 11, Mattapoisett firefighters trained for a similar situation at the town wharf where crews manning Engine 2 and Rescue 1 practiced water rescues.
No injuries were reported.
