Mattapoisett Library to hold modified summer reading program

Jun 5, 2020

MATTAPOISETT —  The library will still hold a modified Summer Reading Program. Starting June 16 through Aug. 3, families can go online to register or fill out the form and mail it to the library.

Families that have signed up can stop by the library during a designated time to receive a participation kit for each child, which includes a necklace and tag for beads, a reading log and a free Science Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) book.

Each week, participating families will receive a kit from the library which will include a newsletter with ideas and activities, an assembled (STEAM) activity, a craft by the Art Lab, a bead for a summer reading necklace and special gifts or activity sheets. Children can choose the weeks they want, or get kits all summer long.

Children who report their reading to the library for the week, will also get a raffle ticket for the grand prize of a signed Bruins Jersey and their picture in the local paper.

In addition, the library will host several virtual programs this summer including a music concert with Tom Sieling and STEAM programs from Ed the Wizard, Mastermind Adventures and Hands on Nature.
