Mattapoisett Library starts new bookclub, teen cooking class

MATTAPOISETT — The library is starting a new teen cooking program and a new book club dedicated to Emma Watson’s Shared Shelf in September.

The first date of the cooking program on Sept. 21 at 1 p.m., will give teens tips and tricks for cooking with cheese. Patrons 12 and up will create a dish at the class. Space is limited. Register by Sept. 4. 

The Shared Shelf book club is for teens and adults. Visit the reference desk or contact librarian Michelle Skaar at mskaar@sailsinc.org or by telephone at 508-758-4171 to sign up and vote on the first book. 

The library will host Craft Tuesdays at its makerspace throughout August and September. Starting Aug. 27, the start time will be 5:30 p.m.  No registration required.

The game lounge will visit the Mattapoisett Library once again on Aug. 24 at 2:30 p.m., Aug. 27 at 4 p.m., and Sept. 7 at 2:30 p.m.

On Saturday, Aug. 31 at 1 p.m. librarians invite teens to learn about and create Edible Slime. Register for the event by Aug. 24.

On Thursday, Sept. 12 at 4 p.m., students can learn lava lamp science and create their own lamp at the library. The program is recommended for patrons ages 9 and up who have registered. Sign up by Sept. 5.

The library will celebrate Banned Books Week on Sept. 27 by having students aged 12 and up create jewelry featuring banned books. The event will start at 4 p.m. Register by Sept. 20.
