Mattapoisett, Marion highlight water restrictions

Aug 25, 2020

Both Marion and Mattapoisett sent out notices on outdoor water restrictions, after the state declared a significant drought.

Above-normal temperatures throughout July and early August and more than three months of below normal rainfall led to the whole state being in a drought.

Marion’s watering restrictions only allow for outside watering from 6 to 8 a.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Residents with even numbered street addresses may water on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and those with odd numbered addresses on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Everyone may wash vehicles and water plants with a hose on Sundays between 6 a.m. and noon.

Mattapoisett has put in place voluntary outside water use restrictions that allow residents to water from 6 to 8 a.m. or 6 to 8 p.m. on even numbered days if in an even numbered house or building

Those who live or work in odd-numbered houses or buildings can water from 6 to 8 a.m. or 6 to 8 p.m. on odd numbered days.
