Mattapoisett principal accepts Martha's Vineyard job

Old Hammondtown School Principal Matthew D'Andrea has been named assistant superintendent to Martha's Vineyard public schools. On Aug. 26, D'Andrea accepted a 22-month appointment to oversee curriculum and instruction.

He toured the island's schools on Aug. 23. D'Andrea, 49, has been the Old Hammondtown principal for five years. Previously, he served as assistant principal at Sippican School for two years.

His background includes a Northeastern University doctorate in policy and law, a state license as a schools business administrator, an assistant superintendent, and experience as a teacher.
