MATTAPOISETT — Public Health Nurse Amanda Stone retired on March 9, after 17 years with the town.

Selectmen and the Board of Health commended Stone on her service to Mattapoisett at a March 9 meeting, where she received certificates from both boards, as well as a citation from the state Senate. She will also be receiving a citation from the state House of Representatives.

“We would like to stress our immense gratitude for your service,” Chair Carmelo Nicolosi said on behalf of the Board of Health.
He added thanks for Stone’s work tackling issues like homelessness, addiction, the swine flu and, most recently, covid.

“It’s hard to believe it was just about a year ago we were sitting down at the table figuring out how to navigate covid,” Selectman Jordan Collyer said.

The Selectmen each wished Stone well in her retirement.

“I’ll miss Mattapoisett very much,” she said, adding that the town has been “a huge part” of her life.
