Mattapoisett has received its eighth Tree City USA award from the Arbor Day Foundation.

The award is given each year to municipalities that work to preserve trees in their communities.

Sandy Hering of the Mattapoisett Tree Committee brought the plaque to the Selectmen’s meeting on Tuesday night, and said, “We thank you for all the support, helping us reline our streets with trees.”

Hering said her committee has worked with the Highway Department to replant trees along streets after roadwork is completed.
