Mattapoisett Recreation 'moving in the right direction'
There’s no end to the programs being offered at Mattapoisett Recreation. On Tuesday night, Chair Jeremy Collier and Director Debbie Allaire updated Selectmen on the recreation department’s present and upcoming offerings.
“Things are moving in the right direction with the recreation department,” said Collier.
He said partnerships with several area businesses, the elementary schools and local organizations has helped Mattapoisett Recreation provide programs, including bowling and cooking lessons for kids and adults.
The department also has a new partnership with Old Rochester Little League to maintain the fields at Old Hammondtown School.
Collier said the tennis court project at Center School will be completed by July 1 and will include bocce and shuffleboard.
A new summer program will also launch June 30 offering half day, full day and select a day options for kid. Registration and information nights will be March 26, April 1 and May 3 at Center School.
Street hockey, an adult softball league and summer conditioning will also be offered.
