MATTAPOISETT — The Mattapoisett Republican Party will be hosting a guest speaker from a new local organization.

Jackie Eckert, spokesperson for Tri-Town for Protecting Children, will speak at the group’s Thursday, May 16 meeting held at the Knights of Columbus — 57 Fairhaven Road — from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Eckert will begin at 7 p.m. on the topic of “preserving and protecting the innocence” of children in public schools and the community, according to a press release.

There will be light snacks and a cash bar.
