Mattapoisett resident arraigned on stabbing charges
Harry Slocomb, 44, of Mattapoisett, was arraigned in the Wareham District Court July 28 for a number of charges following an alleged stabbing at 12:35 a.m. Thursday on Acushnet Road. In a press release from the Mattapoisett Police Department, Slocomb was involved in an argument with his stepson Steven Lamarre, that led to Slocomb allegedly slashing Lamarre with a large kitchen knife. Police say Lamarre suffered a four-inch long, deep gash to his forearm. He was treated at Rhode Island Hospital and later released.
Police indicated during an investigation that Slocomb was linked to the Sidewinder Motorcycle Gang and owned several firearms.
According to the release, members of the Mattapoisett Police Department and Southeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council SWAT team surrounded the house and executed a search and arrest warrant. Slocomb was arrested without incident, police said.
Slocomb was arraigned on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, according to Wareham District Court documents. Bail was set at $1,500. Slocomb was also arraigned on charges of possession of a firearm without an FID card, improper storage of a firearm, and assault with a dangerous weapon, a Mag-Lite. Additional bail in the amount of $1,000 was set on the firearms charges. Slocomb is due back in court on August 17 for pretrial conference.
