Mattapoisett restaurants approved to open outdoor seating

Jun 11, 2020

MATTAPOISETT — Just in time for the start of summer, restaurants across town will be able to reopen their doors for in-person dining with outdoor seating.

Selectmen gave the final approval at a June 11 meeting after representatives from the Police, Fire, Health and Building Departments met with the restaurants individually to go over safety, security and compliance with state guidelines.

Turk’s Seafood, Rustico Pizza, Oxford Creamery, the Golf House (in the Bay Club), Walrus & Captain, Pandolfi’s Mattapoisett Diner, The Inn at Shipyard Park and Tastebuds can now open their outdoor seating areas and serve alcohol in them as well.

Nick’s Homemade Pizza and Jack’s Kitchen can now use their outdoor seating too, after being approved separately by Health Agent Kayla Davis.

The town is encouraging restaurants to use employee cars as barriers to protect customers sitting outside, as many of the setups are in parking lots. The town also placed five jersey barriers at The Inn at Shipyard Park and Tastebuds for protection because they are high-traffic areas.
