The Mattapoisett Road Race has been approved for its 44^th year. On Tuesday, Selectmen spoke with Race Director Bill Tilden and committee member Dan Briand, who has run in every race.

“We had a fantastic race last year,” said Tilden.

He said there won’t be any changes to the race course this year, and he isn’t looking for more than the approximately 1,100 people who participated last year.

“Why change something that works? We’re not looking to grow…not too many, not too few,” said Tilden.

He also said the race committee was able to give 12 $1,500 scholarships to students last year.
