Meet the 2012 Rochester Town Election candidates
The April 11 Town Election in Rochester features two contested races. Three residents are running for two seats open on the Plumb Library Board of Trustees, and two are running for one seat on the Parks Commission.
Board of Selectmen, School Committee, Planning Board, Moderator, Cemetery Commission, Board of Health, Board of Assessors, Tree Warden and Water Commission remain uncontested races.
We will be meeting with the candidates over the next few weeks so be sure to check back for updated profiles as they come in.
Plumb Library Board of Trustees:
The race features three people running for one of two seats on the Board of Trustees. The 2012 election seeks to fill the two seats left open when two current board members decided not to seek re-election. There are three first-time candidates who hope to carve a spot for themselves on the board that would last longer than the three-year term of a board member.
Board of Selectmen:
With three terms under her belt, Selectman Naida Parker is running unopposed for re-election. Parker is seeking a fourth term on the board, which would last another three years.
Planning Board:
Planning Board Chair Arnie Johnson is running for his third term on the board. After ten years on the board, Johnson is running unopposed for his seat. The term for a Planning Board member is five years.
School Committee:
School Committee Chair Tina Rood and member Robin Rounseville are running unopposed for their seats on the board. The term for School Committee member is three years.
