Memorial Day parade to feature Marion residents, guests

MARION — The annual Memorial Day Remembrances and Procession will start at 9 a.m. in front of the Marion Music Hall.

The parade will start by processing to the Veteran’s Memorial at Old Landing, where participants will pay their respects to veterans who died in service.

The parade will feature the Portuguese American band and a military veterans color guard, as well as the Sippican School marching band, under the direction of Hannah Moore.

Marion resident and Massachusetts Air National Guard Captain Andrew Bonney will serve as the Master of Ceremonies for the parade. The guest speaker will be Dr. James R. Holmes of the U.S. Naval War College in Rhode Island.

Other Marion residents are encouraged to join the parade route along Front Street, between Cottage Street and Ryder Lane.

In the event of rain, the remembrance will take place in the multipurpose room of Sippican School.
