A month of owls with the Sippican Lands Trust

Jan 4, 2021

MARION — The Sippican Lands Trust is taking an interest in owls this month, with a story walk and an “owl prowl” on the trust’s properties throughout January.

The lands trust is hosting a story walk through Jan. 31 featuring “Owl Moon'' by Jane Yolen at Peirson Woods. The book tells the story of a father who takes his daughter owling for the first time, where they encounter a great horned owl.

And families may be able to spot their own owls at an “owl prowl” on Jan. 23 at Hagemann Woods and Wasburn Park. The walk will take place at 4 p.m., when participants will be ataken through the woods in hopes of hearing Marion's more common owl species, including the great horned owl and barred owl. Then, participants will drive over to Washburn Park to look for screech owls.

Those interested can email info@sippicanlandstrust.org to reserve a spot. Space is limited due to covid.
