More events added to Harbor Days schedule
MATTAPOISETT — Harbor Days is right around the corner, and an official program for the annual event was recently released across Mattapoisett.
That program contains a schedule for the festive week organized by the Mattapoisett Lions Club. After a June 25 Mattapoisett Select Board meeting, three more events can be added to the 17 already planned for mid-July at Shipyard Park.
New events approved by the Mattapoisett Select Board were a “flower fundraiser,” a children’s movie night and a Mattapoisett Museum event.
“They all seem [like] pretty quiet events,” Mattapoisett Select Board member Jodi Bauer said.
The flower fundraiser is an instructional floral design workshop hosted by Blossoms Flower Shop. The event is Thursday, July 11 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Lions Club tent in Shipyard Park.
Attendees at the workshop — also called “Blossoms Design Night” — will create “seaside sunshine” flower arrangements, according to event material. The cost is $85. Register for the event by calling Blossoms Flower Shop before July 1.
The children’s movie night is scheduled for Friday, July 12. A time and additional details were not immediately specified.
“Hopefully on Friday we can put together a movie night for the children,” Lynne Foley, Mattapoisett Lions Club president, said.
Foley said the Mattapoisett Museum might hold “old fashioned games” Saturday, July 13. The museum is holding an opening reception for its summer exhibit July 11.
Foley said that once she communicates with the museum that the July 13 event had been approved, the museum will “move forward with their board and [curator Connor Gaudet] to see what they have in mind.”
