Music from Land's End Wareham returns to Marion July 23

Jun 21, 2016

Music from Land’s End Wareham will return to Marion, Wareham and New Bedford from July 23 to 31 this summer.

The music festival will feature artistic director and Wareham summer resident Ariadne Daskalakis, who is an internationally renowned violin soloist. Daskalakis was born in Boston, and studied at the New England Conservatory Prep School, and later at Julliard School.

Professionally, she has played with orchestras such as the Athens State Orchestra, Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra Munich, Prague Chamber Orchestra and the New Bedford Symphony.

In 2015, Daskalakis became the artistic director of the European Academy of Music and Art in Montepulciano, Italy, where she led the 15th Anniversary Festival in May.

Music from Land’s End Wareham will also feature Riccardo Caraceni, a violinist who obtained his violin degree at Istituto Musicale Luigi Boccherini, before studying with Daskalakis at the Cologne Conservatory. He is currently playing with the WDR Funkhaus Orchestra in Cologne.

Singer-songwriter Putnam Murdock, from Dover, will also be performing at the festival. After receiving his songwriting degree from Berklee College of Music, Murdock went on to write songs that would be featured in television shows such as “Joan of Arcadia,” “Dawson’s Creek,” “Made,” and “The Biggest Loser.” He also wrote a song that appeared in the film “Just Friends.”

Other performers include Xenia Jankovic, Leonardo Papa, Paige Riggs and Nina Tichman.

All concerts are open to the public, and entrance is by donation.
