MATTAPOISETT — The Nemasket Group Golf Tournament will be on Monday, August 26 at the Bay Club at Mattapoisett. It will feature a bramble style competition, an air cannon contest,  putting contest, hole-in-one contest, lunch and a dinner reception with live and silent auctions.

Registration will begin at 10:30 a.m. lunch at the Golf House Patio will be served, competition will begin at 12:30 p.m. and the dinner reception will start around 5:30 p.m.

Registration for the event will cost $250 per golfer, which includes lunch and dinner. Golfers will play in groups of four, with two carts for each group. Non-golfers may attend the dinner reception for $50. 

Golfers will have a chance to win a GMC vehicle by getting a hole-in-one on a selected hole. The vehicle will be parked near the tee of the hole on the day of the event.

In addition to golf clubs, competitors will be able to use an air cannon provided by LeaderBoard of Boston to launch a golf ball over 300 yards in a closest to the pin competition on hole #7 (par 4).

Auction prizes will include a portrait session with photographer Hilary Wood, a one week timeshare at the Costa Linda resort in Aruba, and 18 holes of golf for four people at the Reservation Golf Club in Mattapoisett. 

Nemasket Group Executive Director Dustin Green said that last year was the first time the event raised over $50,000 and that he hopes to repeat that success this year.

The Nemasket Group Golf Tournament is held in memory of Founding Executive Director Louis Nisenbaum who passed away in 2011.

The Nemasket group’s mission is to provide “personalized flexible support  to families and individuals with disabilities to live, work and develop relationships within [local] communities.”   

Services provided by The Nemasket Group include a program that provides employment opportunities, a Community Living Program, and educational planning and support for individuals with disabilities and their family members.
