New art show, class, concert to come to the Marion Art Center in January

MARION — The Art Center will open its Winter Members’ Show on Friday, Jan. 10 with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. The exhibit will run through Saturday, Feb. 15. The show features work by current art center members. 

The Art Center will start its Winter Continuing and Advanced Watercolor Painting with instructor Jay Ryan on Fridays beginning Jan. 10. The 10 a.m.class will run for an eight-week winter session. This course is a perfect next step for those who would like to explore watercolor painting beyond a basic understanding of color and brush strokes. A four-week session costs $105 for art center members and $125 for non-members while an eight-week session costs $195 for members and $220 for non-members. The Marion Art Center will also hold an evening of music on Saturday, Jan. 25  at 7:30 p.m., featuring New Bedford-based band Morrissey Blvd. The four-sibling group has been profiled for their charity involvement  The band consists of the four young Morrisseys – Zan (19), Zoelle (17), Henri (15), and Wilson (12). The siblings have been playing as a band since 2017. While the band often performs cover songs, they will also be debuting new original music during the Marion concert. Tickets, available now, are $18 for art center members and $20 for non-members.

A limited number of cabaret tables are available with seating for four. Reservations are strongly recommended. While beverages are not provided, attendees may bring their own refreshments to enjoy with the music. Doors open at 7 p.m.
