New covid case reported at Old Hammondtown School

Nov 12, 2020

MATTAPOISETT — A new case of covid was reported in Old Hammondtown School on Nov. 11, the fifteenth case found in the Old Rochester Regional School District since schools opened on Sept. 16.

It’s not clear whether the person who tested positive is a student, staff or faculty member.

The individual was last in the building on Nov. 4 and has been isolating at home ever since, the district said in a Nov. 12 press release.

Contact tracing is underway and close contacts, or those who were within six feet of someone with covid for at least 10 to 30 minutes, will be notified by the Mattapoisett Board of Health.

All schools were open on normal schedules on Nov. 12. All schools will continue to be cleaned every day after school and as needed.

The district urges any parents whose child is feeling ill to keep them home from school.
