MARION — An addition project to a playground at Sippican Elementary School was recently completed and announced by the town of Marion and Old Rochester Regional School District.

The new equipment includes a multipurpose structure, climbing structures, bridge, overhead rung climbers and a swing set, according to a press release.

The added equipment was funded through capital funding designated for the project by the town of Marion as well as a $50,000 donation from Tabor Academy, the press release said.

The money from Tabor Academy was part of a three-year, $150,000 commitment the school had made to Marion in 2022, according to Stacy Jagodowski, Tabor Academy’s director of strategic marketing and communications. Marion decided how to use the donation, Jagodowski said.

The playground addition project was completed in March. The playground, located behind the Sippican School building, is open to the community in addition to students every day of the week, according to the press release.

“The playground is a valuable gathering space for our community and we look forward to seeing the equipment used by Marion's families for years to come," Town Administrator Geoffrey Gorman said in the release.
