New police officer appointed in Rochester

ROCHESTER — Andrew Bumpus of Carver was appointed as a full time police officer by the Rochester Select Board on Monday, Nov. 6.

According to Rochester Police Chief Robert Small, Bumpus attended American International College where he was part of the campus police department. Bumpus also completed police academy training during his time in school.

Bumpus was accompanied by friends and family as he was sworn in at Rochester Town Hall.

“We were lucky enough to find a good candidate,” said Small. “He’s gone through our process, gone through multiple interviews, backgrounds and everything else. The motion to appoint Bumpus was unanimously approved by the Select Board.
