ROCHESTER — There’s a new sheriff in town, and his name is Officer Bog.

Proudly hoisting an American flag in front of the Rochester Police Station, Officer Bog is an eight foot tall statue of a Rochester Officer that was donated by Tom Simeone of South Yarmouth on Tuesday, May 20.

Since retiring seven years ago, Simeone and a team of friends have crafted a total of 37 statues given to law enforcement and firemen that are “mostly on the Cape” with two statues also in Rhode Island.

“I like to support law enforcement,” said Simeone.

The Rochester Police statue took about 65 hours to build, with Simeone’s associates Keith Magyar, Keith Harris, Bob Nelson and Susan McCarthy assisting with the construction and painting.

“It’s great if people are able to drive by and come in and take a picture and show respect for the policemen,” said Simeone.

Chief Michael Assad was familiar with Simeone’s work from his time working as an officer on the cape.

“I know they take so much time to make, time and sweat and tears put into making something like that, and he donates all his own time,” he said. “I really appreciate Tom and everything he did to make this happen.”
