New sergeant appointed in Rochester

Aug 12, 2014

On Monday night, Selectmen approved the appointment of Rochester police officer Kevin Flynn to sergeant.

Flynn was hired as a part-time officer in November 2003 and after graduating from the police academy, he became a full-time member of the department in June 2005. Since then, Chief Paul Magee said Flynn has been a patrol officer, a DARE officer, worked with the school and overhauled the firearms training program.

“He brought the program up to current standards,” said Magee.

Flynn was sworn in by Selectman Naida Parker, and his wife, Susie, pinned on his new badge.

Magee also said the department has been short staffed and recognized Sergeant Bob Small for his work.

“Since May he’s assumed the responsibility of three supervisors,” said the chief.

He said the whole department has been working hard, and with several new hires is now up to a full staff.
