Nomination papers available for Mattapoisett election
Nomination papers are now available for Mattapoisett's annual town elections on May 19. Papers are available at the town clerk's office at Town Hall during normal business hours.
The deadline for taking out nomination papers is March 27 and they must be completed and returned by March 30.
Among the positions up for election this year is one selectman seat. Incumbent Paul Silva has already taken out nomination papers as has Raymond Hanks. Neither one has filed their paperwork yet.
Two spots on the Mattapoisett School Committee and one on the Old Rochester Regional District School Committee are up for election.
Highway Surveyor Barry Denham is the only candidate so far who has submitted his papers.
Other positions up for election are as follows: library trustee (two positions,) town moderator, assessor, water/sewer commissioner, Board of Health (two positions,) Planning Board, Mattapoisett Housing Authority (two positions,) and Community Preservation Committee (two positions.)
