Old Colony beats own record at skills challenge

ROCHESTER — Old Colony improved on its medal count from last year at the Skills USA Challenge, a competition hosted by a technical student organization to allow students to showcase their skills. 
 
Last year, the school got nine gold medals, six silver medals and seven bronze medals for a total of 22 awards. This year, 100 students brought home 12 gold medals, nine silver medals and 13 bronze medals on Feb. 28, for a total of 34 awards. 
 
The categories that medaled are architectural drafting, automotive service technology, additive manufacturing, carpentry, commercial baking, milling, customer service,  two cosmetology categories, electronics technology, esthetics,  nail care, nurse assisting,  restaurant service, technical computer applications, technical drafting, web design
