Old Colony cookies are hot stuff, straight from the sun

Feb 13, 2022

ROCHESTER — Students at Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School recently baked cookies, heated by the sun.

Using a device that uses the energy of direct sunlight for cooking, the science class led by Michelle Falcon recently learned about thermal energy by making solar cookies.

The cookie dough used was donated by the culinary arts department.

“There’s nothing better than collaboration across curriculum,’’ school representatives wrote on the school’s Facebook page.

But fresh cookies whipped up without draining traditional energy resources might be a close second.
