MATTAPOISETT — The players on the Old Rochester Regional High School girls’ tennis team are on a roll in the MIAA playoffs following wins against Ashland on Friday, June 2 and against Medfield on Tuesday, June 6.

The Bulldogs won 3-2 against Ashland and won 3-2 against Medfield.

“It’s always good when you can come out and get a win at the end of the day,” said Old Rochester Regional High School girls’ tennis coach Kyle Noseworthy. “I’m just proud of the kids, they’ve come such a long way since the start of the season, they’ve overcome a lot — just really proud of them — a great win in the books.”

The win against Ashland was punctuated by two winning 6-0 games from Old Rochester freshman Neva Matos, who also took two winning 6-0 games against Medfield.

According to Noseworthy, Matos is “already our number one … in years to come she’ll definitely be one of the premier players in the league.”

“I have to be honest, sometimes you have a really good freshman who has a lot of talent,” he added. “As much as you can coach, some kids have a lot of raw talent and [Matos] is one of those players who really has the talent. She’s going to look to pull that [off] in the next match as well.”

Noseworthy also highlighted Old Rochester player Molly Dupre, who pulled off two wins against Ashland.

Dupre “has a really hard slice and she did a good job controlling the points and looking for opportunities” in the game on Friday, said Noseworthy.

Eleventh seeded Old Rochester will go on to face either third seeded Dover or 14th seeded Swampscott in a to-be-announced game.
