Old Rochester granted $30,000 for civics education
MATTAPOISETT — Old Rochester Regional High School received a $30,000 state grant to fund its civics education efforts.
The school was among 28 districts to receive similar funding to support teachers’ professional development, strengthen civics curriculum and help students demonstrate the civics knowledge through projects, local and statewide showcases and other hands-on learning experiences.
The Civics Teaching and Learning Grants are funded through the state’s Civics Project Trust Fund and support high-quality civics education in schools across Massachusetts.
The grants help schools strengthen civics instruction and provide students with opportunities to complete the student-led, nonpartisan civic action projects required under state law.
