One hospitalized after car collides with Mattapoisett utility pole
MATTAPOISETT – A car crashed into a utility pole on Brandt Island Road in Mattapoisett, sending at least one person to the hospital on Wednesday, Aug. 7.
Police blocked off one lane of the road as first responders cleaned up the scene.
According to Mattapoisett Police Lieutenant Justin King, the person transported to the hospital appeared to be “okay,” but, according to Mattapoisett Fire Captain Ross Macedo, they were transported to the hospital for further evaluation.
The pole that was hit did not appear to be damaged. According to Macedo, there was one downed wire from the crash, which Eversource planned to fix later in the day.
By 10:10 a.m., the vehicle was no longer in front of the telephone pole and was not on the scene.
The persons involved in the crash are not currently known.
The Mattapoisett Fire Department did not comment on a potential cause of the crash. According to the Mattapoisett Police Department, the crash is still under investigation.
