Opinion: Gratitude from the Friends of Elizabeth Taber Library for books donated
To the editor:
On July 26 and 27, the Friends of the Elizabeth Taber Library had one of their many book sales at the Marion Music Hall to benefit the Elizabeth Taber Library. At the completion of the sale, it was prearranged for children’s books left over to be generously donated to the Compassion Coalition for Women and Children. Over 500 books were received and sorted to be given away to grateful children of all ages.
The Compassion Coalition for Women and Children is a volunteer group at Grace Episcopal Church in New Bedford, in collaboration with many other local churches, that provides much needed items to families at the New Bedford Community Health Center. Currently our group is collecting diapers of all sizes, wipes, and gently used or new books for all ages and in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
Donations of diapers, baby wipes and books are gratefully accepted as well as cash donations (checks made to Grace Church, with Compassion Coalition for Women and Children in the memo line). Contact Grace Episcopal office staff at 508-993-0547, office hours are Tuesday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to drop donations off at 133 School St., New Bedford.
Our volunteer group is grateful for the generous donation of books to encourage reading by children of all ages.
Sincerely,
CCWC Chairs Pam McNamara and Andrea Medeiros,
Tri-Town Coordinator Cornelia Dougall
