Opinion: Marion Town Meeting Open Space articles provide much value

Oct 26, 2020

To the Editor:

The proposed addition of open space in the Town of Marion will provide many tangible and intangible values to the residents of Marion. The existing woodlands will be protected from land development thereby maintaining its function to filter pollutants in stormwater runoff into Aucoot Cove. This will minimize closures of Aucoot Cove to shellfishing which has associated economic and health benefits. The proposed open space will allow for the expansion of the existing recreational trail network on the adjacent Sippican Lands Trust parcels, thereby increasing the desirability and associated property values in Marion. The addition of open space will add to the quality of life in Marion that we all so enjoy.

Please vote for articles five, six, seven and eight at the Marion Special Town Meeting on Nov. 5.
