ORR gears up for Super Bowl, celebrates other talents

MATTAPOISETT — The ORR pep rally on Friday featured plenty of hype on Saturday’s Super Bowl. However, the ORR also recognized other school groups, including the drama club as they put on “Cinderella,” the signing club, the eSports club and the Environmental Club.

Though the pep rally may not have featured the creative skits that make the Homecoming pep rally a must-see event, even for parents, there was plenty of school spirit to go around.

After a brief introduction, the football team ran into the gym as the cheerleaders cheered them on. Three performances from the cheerleaders, dance team and the cast of Cinderella showcased a variety of student talent.

Three clubs then took the chance to present an activity to the student body. In advance of the holiday season, the signing club showed some of the signs to “Santa Claus is Coming to Town,” and performed part of the song.

The Environmental Club explained what plogging is (jogging while picking up litter), and challenged two teachers to a plogging competition. Though the teams came very close, one narrowly edged out the other by picking up 31 bottles where the other team only had 30.

To close out the pep rally, Athletic Director Bill Tilden took the floor to pump up the crowd. He also called all of the seniors down to recognize that this was a special moment for them.
