This year the Old Rochester Regional High School senior prom will take place at the Baltimore Hotel in Providence on May 31.

Students from the senior class received the OK from the ORR School Committee on Wednesday night, with senior Bailey Sweet explaining that the cost would be $50 to $60 per ticket. She said there is money in the senior fund for those who cannot afford to purchase tickets, though those students would go through Principal Mike Devoll to keep the need anonymous to their peers.

Devoll said the hotel was an ideal location and was host to two previous proms.

“It’s a favorite of mine as a chaperone,” he said.

As opposed to other locations chosen recently, this one has a contained area so chaperones can keep track of students ,and it is only 45 minutes away from campus.

Devoll said students are responsible for their own transportation.
