ORR students' artwork to be featured in UMass Dartmouth exhibit
For the second year in a row, the College of Visual and Performing Arts at UMass Dartmouth has invited the art students at Old Rochester Regional High School to participate in the Emerging Young Artists 2016 Invitational Exhibition.
The exhibition will be held from Jan. 25 to Feb. 6 at the college's Campus Gallery. Through the exhibit, the college looks to support the future of the arts in Massachusetts. ORR was selected as one of the participating schools because of the program's quality and its long-standing commitment to arts education, according to a press release from UMass Dartmouth.
Art teacher Jo Mogilnicki has submitted the work of five ORR art students. These students will have the opportunity to meet with working artists, designers, artisans, faculty and art students at UMass Dartmouth. Each exhibitor will receive a certificate of participation. Every student whose work merits an award will be given a portfolio review waiver if he or she applies to the College of Visual and Performing Arts.
The CVPA faculty and Dean Adrian Tio will present the awards and honorable mentions at the exhibition's closing reception, open to friends, family and the public, on Saturday, Feb. 6. The reception is 1 to 3 p.m. and the award presentations are at 2:30 p.m.
In addition to the actual exhibition, there will be an online version of it on the CVPA's website, www.umassd.edu/cvpa.
This exhibit is free and open to the public.
