Pancreatic Cancer Awareness event to be held in Mattapoisett
Brock Cordeiro, a Dartmouth resident, will host an event for Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day at the Mattapoisett Knights of Columbus on Nov. 13.
Cordeiro explained the event to Selectmen on Tuesday. He said that pancreatic cancer is on the rise, and his own father passed away from the disease.
Last year he had hoped to host the event, but didn't have enough time.
“It was designed originally to lift my spirit,” said Cordeiro.
A member of the Dartmouth Knights, Cordeiro said he designed the event to be fun with some education and awareness components mixed in. There will the Mad House food truck, a cash bar, two music acts and a DJ.
Attendance to the event is free.
Selectmen approved a license for the food truck and wished Cordeiro’s event well.
“I give you a lot of credit for doing that,” said Paul Silva. “I hope it’s a great success.”
