Peter M. Zentz, 67, formerly of Sandwich and New Seabury, passed away at his home in Vieques, Puerto Rico on October 12, 2023. He is survived by his beloved and devoted husband Ric Gifford. Peter was born in Portsmouth, Virginia on October 3, 1956 to the late Lt. Cmdr. Bernard L. Zentz and Marjorie Rowell Zentz. He is survived by his three sisters Susan Ftorek of Wareham, Nancy Donahue of Marion and Karen Russell of Sandwich. He is also survived by three nieces and four nephews and seven grandnieces and nephews. He was also very close with Ric's three sisters and brother.

Peter was a graduate of Sandwich High School and attended UMass Amherst. After working at Benthos in Falmouth for many years Peter retired to Puerto Rico where he spent his time traveling extensively. Peter also shared a deep passion for animals with Ric and they spent many years selflessly caring for the cats, dogs and horses on the island they loved so much.

After Hurricane Maria, they established The Vieques Tennis Club. They built a tennis court on their property, giving their friends and neighbors a place to enjoy playing tennis once again.

Peter will be remembered for his kindness and generosity, his infectious laugh, his sense of humor and his devotion to his family and all of his animals.
