MARION — Kids got a chance to learn more about safety services during the Marion Recreational Department’s Touch-A-Truck event on Saturday, June 12.
“It gives kids an opportunity to look, touch and feel some rescue equipment and police cruisers,” said Director of Recreation Scott Tavares.
Kids climbed excavators, sat behind the wheel of fire trucks and even listened to police sirens.
According to Tavares, this year the Touch-A-Truck event has been expanded to include vehicles used by the DPW and military vehicles provided by the National Guard.
“It also gives the community an opportunity to see what gear the town uses to work around town,”said Tavares.
Six-year-old Gavin Willis sat behind the wheel of an ATV used for emergency medical services, but he had his eyes on an armored car.
“I want to be an army soldier,” said Willis.
