Pick your own cranberries
Nothing says fall in the Buzzards Bay region quite like the annual cranberry harvest. On Saturday, Oct. 25, folks can pick their own fresh, local cranberries at the Buzzards Bay Coalition’s Mattapoisett River Reserve on Acushnet Road in Mattapoisett, where cranberries grow in 50 acres of retired bogs.
During a tour at 10 a.m., Coalition staff will talk about the history and ecological importance of the property, which has been protected to preserve its natural features. Then from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the bogs will be open to picking. Participants should bring their own containers to hold cranberries.
