The Mattapoisett Congregational Church will host a community outreach event on preventing opiate abuse in the tri-town on Thursday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m.

All adult and older teen community members of the tri-town area are invited to attend and to learn about current issues involving opiate addiction and how to become educated on fighting this growing problem.

The forum will present information from the Physicians for the Prevention of Opioid Abuse and Nurses for the Prevention of Opioid Abuse, and it will be held at the Mattapoisett Congregational Church Hall, 27 Church St.
