Primary election delays public hearing on Rochester Crossing
Planning Board members were forced to postpone discussion on the Rochester Crossing development to remain in accordance with state law on Tuesday.
“We can’t hold a public hearing on a day when there is an election per state statute,” Chair Arnie Johnson said.
The board had planned to continue a public hearing from last month on a proposed convenience store, drive-thru coffee shop and gas station at Rochester Crossing. Located at the intersection of Cranberry Highway and Route 58, the site is owned by the Wareham-based company Rochester Crossing LLC.
Developers hope to attract big-box commercial stores in the future.
The gas station, which is proposed by a separate company, Colbea Enterprises LLC, is the first business proposed for the site.
Last month, board members OK’d plans for an access road on the site to serve the gas station.
Board members also postponed two other public hearings scheduled for Tuesday night.
The public hearing for Colbea Enterprises was continued to Sept. 30. Planning Board meetings start at 7 p.m. and are held in Town Hall.
