Pumpkin picking underway in Rochester

ROCHESTER — With fall underway and the month of October nearing its halfway point, residents are making the trek out to Cervelli Farm to enjoy seasonal activities and to pick pumpkins for Halloween.

Cervelli Farm offered Rochester residents bumpy hayrides, pumpkin patches, and cider doughnuts (among other treats) over weekend of Oct. 6.

After residents arrived, adults and children alike piled into the hayride cart and rode into the farm to choose the perfect pumpkin for the upcoming holiday.

Scott Makowski, who operates the farm with his family, said that they have recently started to venture into providing these fall activities.

In years past, the farm has offered a corn maze and apple picking. However, the apple trees did not yield many apples and a corn maze was not possible this year. Makowski did say that he hoped to put together a maze next year.

Cervelli Farm primarily grows sweet corn for wholesale, but they do have the farm stand which sells the corn and other common garden vegetables.

Weather permitting, the farm will likely open their pumpkin patches again on Oct. 13 and Oct. 14.
