Quahog Book Award returns to Mattapoisett Library

Jan 3, 2024

MATTAPOISETT — On Tuesday, Jan. 9, the Quahog Book Award is back at the Mattapoisett Free Public Library. This program invites students in grades three to six to embark on a “literary adventure,” according to a Mattapoisett Library press release.

“This annual award aims to cultivate a love for quality literature among youth by empowering them to choose their favorite book from curated lists consisting of five nominated titles,” read the release.

Students interested in participating can register by visiting the children’s room of the library before and March 3. During the course of the program, the library will host a range of events specifically for Quahog readers, offer weekly beads, opportunities to participate in raffles, and “provide the delight of delving into exceptional books.”

To celebrate, a pizza party will be held at the end of the program. The pizza party will serve as the platform for announcing the winning books.

Students from Mattapoisett and all surrounding communities are welcome to participate.

The Quahog Book Award is funded by the Friends of the Mattapoisett Library. For more information, visit mattapoisettlibrary.org, or contact Michelle Skaar at mskaar@sailsinc.org or by calling the library at 508-758-4171.
