Raccoon rabies vaccines set for Sept. 21 distrubution in Marion

MARION — The Cape Cod & Southeast MA Rabies Task Force will begin its 26th annual round of oral rabies vaccinations for raccoons, using helicopters for the first time in over a decade. 

The helicopter operations will be based out  of Plymouth Municipal Airport and will begin on Sept. 21 and last until Sept. 24. Helicopter distribution will mostly occur in Plymouth, Kingston, Carver, Middleboro, Rochester, Lakeville, Marion, Wareham and Bourne. 

Distribution of oral rabies vaccines to other areas will occur for two weeks, beginning Sept. 21, by hand out of vehicles and stationary bait stations.
