Registration available now for 2023 Marion-Bermuda race

MARION — Registration for the 2023 Marion Bermuda Race is now open, with early bird registration available until December.

The bi-annual race starts June 16, 2023 in Buzzards Bay, off the Beverly Yacht Club in Marion, and ends off St. David’s Head, in Bermuda where the race is hosted by the Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club. The 2023 race will be the first one held since 2019.

The Marion Bermuda Race is organized by the two hosting clubs, plus the Blue Water Sailing Club.

The latest addition will have an adjusted scoring matrix and additional race categories. As always, the Marion Bermuda Race is a fully amateur event, with no professional yacht or crew entries.

The event is for the racer-cruiser, with all boat entries meeting the requirements for cruising equipment.

“Our race continues to cater for multihulls, families, and our unique identifier of rewarding yachts sailing under celestial navigation,” said Neil Redburn, Executive Director of the Marion Bermuda Race. “Since its inception in 1977, the Marion to Bermuda Race has been a Corinthian event, and our core values reflect that all yachts and crew are participating for the joy and pleasure of sailing, competition, and the camaraderie that accompanies such an offshore event.”

The race itself is a tactical challenge, combining the often-blustery conditions of a Buzzards Bay start with a strategic entry into the Gulf Stream, followed by a final push to Bermuda.

“There is a warm welcome awaiting you at Beverly Yacht Club next year, and there are the legendary parties and hospitality at The Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club in Bermuda,” says Redburn. “We’ll see you at the start line on June 16th, 2023.”

Registration forms, as well as further information about the race and its surrounding events, can be found at www.marionbermuda.com.
